# act Run GitHub Actions Locally via Docker

Runs GitHub Actions locally with nektos/act: executing workflows inside Docker containers, simulating events (push, pull_request), passing mock secrets (.secrets), and debugging failing steps interactively.

## When to Invoke
Invoke this skill whenever you need to:
- run github actions locally act
- pass mock secrets act
- debug workflow step act

## Execution SOP & Rules
1. Install act CLI via Homebrew, chocolatey, or direct binary download.
2. Run default push workflow: act push.
3. Provide mock secrets: act -s GITHUB_TOKEN=$TOKEN --secret-file .secrets.
4. Run with interactive shell on failure: act -j build --reuse to inspect container filesystem.

## Verification Checklist
- Run local linting, syntax validation, and type-checks before reporting completion.
- Ensure all created or modified files adhere to workspace boundaries and avoid uncommitted secrets.
- Verify tests or build commands exit cleanly with return code 0.
