# Prometheus Alertmanager Notification Routing & Inhibit Rules

Configures Prometheus Alertmanager: authoring alertmanager.yml, routing trees (matchers, receivers, continue), grouping (group_by, group_wait, group_interval), inhibition rules to silence cascading symptoms, and silences via amtool.

## When to Invoke
Invoke this skill whenever you need to:
- configure alertmanager route tree
- suppress alert storm inhibit rules
- create amtool silence

## Execution SOP & Rules
1. Define route hierarchy in alertmanager.yml with group_by: ['alertname', 'cluster', 'service'].
2. Set group_wait: 30s and group_interval: 5m to batch related alerts together.
3. Configure inhibit_rules with target_match and source_match to suppress redundant downstream alarms.
4. Test and validate config syntax using amtool check-config /etc/alertmanager/alertmanager.yml.

## Verification Checklist
- Run local linting, syntax validation, and type-checks before reporting completion.
- Ensure all created or modified files adhere to workspace boundaries and avoid uncommitted secrets.
- Verify tests or build commands exit cleanly with return code 0.
