# Semantic Release Automated Versioning & GitHub Releases

Configures semantic-release: parsing Git commit messages (feat:, fix:, chore:, BREAKING CHANGE:), computing semantic version bumps (major, minor, patch), generating CHANGELOG.md, and publishing GitHub Releases.

## When to Invoke
Invoke this skill whenever you need to:
- setup semantic-release
- automated changelog semantic-release
- conventional commit semver

## Execution SOP & Rules
1. Install semantic-release and standard plugins: @semantic-release/commit-analyzer, @semantic-release/release-notes-generator.
2. Configure .releaserc.json declaring release branches (e.g. main, next).
3. Add CI step running npx semantic-release with GITHUB_TOKEN and NPM_TOKEN.
4. Verify version bumps correctly: feat -> minor, fix -> patch, BREAKING CHANGE -> major.

## Verification Checklist
- Run local linting, syntax validation, and type-checks before reporting completion.
- Ensure all created or modified files adhere to workspace boundaries and avoid uncommitted secrets.
- Verify tests or build commands exit cleanly with return code 0.
